Celebrate Srilanka and Responsible Fashion with Seams For Dreams!
All of you following my Instagram know that I was in Sri Lanka for the Responsible Fashion Summit that was held last week in Colombo. I had so much fun being there as their keynote speaker, and it was extremely exciting for me to talk about all the work my team and I are doing with Seams For Dreams. I still can’t believe it’s been over four years since we started this journey and it was great to be on an international platform to tell the world about our mission.
I was thrilled to share the stage with Patrick Duffy, an eco-entrepreneur that started the Global Fashion Exchange in 2013 and has become a dear friend on my journey to spread awareness for the need to change the way we look at fashion. In addition to meeting many inspiring changemakers and experts at the event, it was so informative to learn about strategies that can really make an impact in the future of fashion. Innovation, awareness, and strategy are all crucial to scaling sustainability efforts worldwide and this summit was an impressive platform that showcased Sri Lanka’s amazing successes in circularity.
Sri Lanka is a beautiful country with so much that we can all learn from. Many people don’t know this, but Sri Lanka has one of the cleanest fashion supply chains in all of Asia. Huge brands, which all of us have heard of, like Victoria’s Secret and Nike have their factories here. These big brands have begun to transform what they do due to Sri Lanka’s dedication to sustainable fashion and while big, global brands still have a long way to go, it’s definitely a start.
